Michael Stanton, EVP and Managing Director, SourceMedia

Michael Stanton has served as the EVP and Managing Director of SourceMedia’s Capital Markets Group since August 2008, a role in which he manages all business operations for 10 publications, including The Bond Buyer, the company’s flagship daily newspaper covering the municipal finance markets. Mr. Stanton spent his entire professional career with SourceMedia and its predecessors, joining The Bond Buyer’s editorial staff as a reporter in 1995.  He later served as a reporter in the Washington, DC bureau covering Federal tax law, then returned to New York as Managing Editor, and ultimately the youngest Editor-in-Chief in the publication’s 118-year history.  He transitioned to the business side in 2003, managing The Bond Buyer’s conferences business, and was named publisher in 2005. He is a frequent commentator on trends in the municipal bond market, with particular expertise on the bond insurance industry and the Federal tax-law provisions that impact the tax-exempt status of municipal bonds.  He holds a BA in Economics from Columbia University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
